January Update from Sixth Form

Message from Russell Smith, Head of Sixth Form at Carre's:
As we close the door on January, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on what has been an exceptionally productive and inspiring month for our Sixth Form community. It’s been a whirlwind of academic planning, future-focused ambitions, and selfless community spirit.
Here are a few highlights that made this month stand out:
• Supporting the Next Generation: We held academic post-16 counselling sessions with 93 Year 11 students. It was fantastic to discuss their future options and provide tailored advice on sharpening their revision habits as they approach their exams.
• University Ambitions: Our UCAS season has been incredibly busy, with a total of 98 applications submitted. Notably, this included supporting 8 ex-students who returned to us for guidance after their gap years. We are thrilled to help them take this next step.
• Making a Difference: We were honoured to host David from the Anthony Nolan Trust. His powerful talk on becoming a stem cell donor resonated deeply with our Year 13s, leading to 22 students officially registering to become potential lifesavers.
I am immensely proud of the maturity and drive our students have shown this month. Whether planning their own futures or looking for ways to help others, they continue to represent the very best of our school.
Onwards to a successful February!
