Sponsored Walk - Friday 04 July 2025

On the day of the walk, students will be asked to arrive at school at the normal time, with the walk starting at 9.15am. For the students doing the walk, there will be no teaching on the day, so students do not need to bring any books. The walk is a new route is expected to take four hours. At the end of the walk students will stay in school until 3.30pm.
If students are unable to take part in the walk for medical or health reasons, then please inform us. For these students we suggest they bring some subject books to school.
In order for us to gather the information above, we require you to complete a Sponsored Walk 2025 Microsoft Form ASAP.
The walk will be tiring, so a sensible choice of clothing and footwear is essential. Please watch the weather forecast and encourage your child to dress accordingly. Students are permitted to wear PE kit, or non-uniform that complies with usual civvies day expectations and is suitable for a long walk. Sensible fancy dress is an option. Students will be reminded of expectations in assemblies.
Refreshments will be on sale at the 4.5-mile point, and cash will be needed to purchase at this point. However, it is advisable that students carry their own supplies of food and drink. If your child is entitled to free school meals, they can collect their lunch at the beginning of the day from the Chill at CGS.
Members of staff will act as marshals, and the school minibus will be patrolling the route to transport any students back to school who are really struggling with the walk back to school. Main road crossings will be controlled by members of staff. I have also added further information below about the route and procedures in place during the walk.
