Olympic Torch Relay

Published: 2012-04-02 09:15:00 | Category: Headteacher

As you will be aware from the media coverage, the Olympic Torch Relay is making its way through Sleaford on Wednesday 27 June 2012 at approximately 3.50pm. North Kesteven District Council has informed the schools that in order for the torch to pass through Sleaford, the roads will be closed for an hour either side of this. It is due to this that Sleaford’s schools, both primary and secondary, will close at 12.30pm to allow time for students to be collected and get home on buses without too much disruption. We will contact the bus companies to let them know that they will need to pick up the students soon after this time. Students are, of course, welcome to stay in school so that they can be part of the celebration and I would hope that many will want to join us in celebrating the event.

Everyone in Sleaford is very much looking forward to welcoming the Olympic Torch on its route to London, and in supporting the torchbearers in this once in a lifetime opportunity. I do hope that you support us with this decision and hope that by giving you plenty of time to prepare you can make the necessary arrangements for the early finish to school time.
